Water Restrictions

Outdoor Water Use

It shall be unlawful for any person, between noon and 6:00 p.m. during the period May 15 through September 15 of each year, to fill any swimming pool, to sprinkle lawns, gardens, shrubs, flowers, plants, fields or any ground whatsoever, or to engage in any outdoor activity, using water obtained from a village water main.

Such use of water at all other times of the day during said period would be lawful if limited to even-numbered days on those premises identified by even-numbered street addresses and to odd-numbered days on those premises identified by odd-numbered street addresses. During any other period of the year, such use of water shall be unrestricted.

Notwithstanding any provision of this section to the contrary, if the village administrator shall determine that an emergency water shortage exists in connection with the operation of the village water distribution system, the village administrator is hereby authorized to invoke an emergency ban on all outdoor water use for the duration of the emergency. The village administrator shall use every reasonable means, including but not limited to telephone communication, radio and television announcements, and use of loudspeaker systems by the police, fire and emergency services and disaster unit vehicles, to notify all village water users and the village president, village clerk and all village trustees that the ban is in effect and later that the ban has been lifted.
