Overview

The Building Services Department is dedicated to providing professional and courteous assistance during the construction process. Whether constructing a new commercial building, a single-family residence, or a renovation project, our team is here to assist you. The Building Services Department is responsible for plan review, processing of permit applications and subsequent inspections for all building activities within the community.

It is important to know that all building alterations, land improvements and new construction upon a residential or commercial property requires a permit. The permitting process is a means to protect the property owner, neighbors, and Village. Although a permit may be submitted by a contractor, it is ultimately the homeowners or building owners responsibility for assuring that permits for building, electrical and/or plumbing are obtained for the intended project.

Building Codes are adopted and amended through the Village of Hillside Municipal Code, Chapter 18.
