Administration

Village administration includes offices and personnel responsible for administrative activities within the Village. These positions include the Village Administrator, Assistant Village Administrator, Attorney, Engineer, Information Technology, Social Worker and Special Events Coordinator.

Building Services Department

Welcome to Building Services, where we work with residents and business owners to actively promote a safe and vibrant community through enforcement of building, health, property maintenance and zoning code requirements.

Code Enforcement 

The Code Enforcement team aims to work alongside residents to keep our community safe, maintain a pleasing community appearance, and improve the quality of life for residents and business owners of the Village of Hillside.

Economic Development

The mission of Economic Development in Hillside is to attract and promote the appropriate growth or expansion of a diversified tax base, while maintaining existing businesses to offer a variety of goods, services and job opportunities within the Village. 

Emergency Management Agency

The primary mission of the Emergency Management Agency (EMA) is to plan for, respond to, and assist in the recovery from any major natural and man-made disasters that may impact the Village. The EMA is composed of volunteers, who during local,  state-wide and federal disasters become part of the response.

Finance Department

The Finance Department is responsible for maintaining the integrity of all the Village’s financial assets and investments in accordance with applicable laws, ordinances, policies and procedures. These activities include the annual audit, recording of all financial transactions, financial planning and reporting.

Police Department

The Hillside Police Department works to ensure the safety of the Village and to enforce various statutes and ordinances on a 24 hour per day basis. The Hillside Police Department is devoted to maintaining the safety and security of citizens in the community through a partnership with both the residents and business community. 

Consolidated Dispatch Center

Hillside’s Consolidated Dispatch Center responds to requests for emergency and non-emergency police, fire, and medical services for the municipalities of Hillside, Westchester and Berkeley. 

Fire Department

The mission of the Hillside Fire Department is to provide protection of life and property, by providing rescue, emergency medical care, fire suppression, and fire prevention through education.

Public Works Department

The Public Works Department’s function is to maintain, rehabilitate, and improve when so directed, the village’s systems of streets, water mains, and sanitary and storm sewer lines. 

Planning & Zoning Department

The Planning & Zoning Department works with developers, residents, and business owners to interpret and apply the Village’s Zoning Ordinance
