However, four of our
outstanding volunteers are graduating (three from high school
and one from college) and we want to recognize them as the
special young men that they are and tell them how much we
appreciate all they do for our town. They never say no
when asked to help... and we are extremely proud that they
represent our community.
Matt and Mark Flood
Matt and Mark are graduating from Fenwick High School on
Saturday, May 25. As you know they are the masters of
Hillside's Web site (hillside-il.org). As incredible as it may
seem, these two high school students designed our fantastic
site. They have taken on the responsibility of updating our Web
page even though they have a heavy school schedule and
participate in extracurricular activates within their school
and church. These two honor students will be attending Purdue
University in the fall and will pursue a Bachelor of Science
Degree in Professional Flight Technology. However, that have
assured us that they will continue the outstanding job of
maintaining our terrific Web site! Mark and Matt have a career
goal of becoming pilots for a major airline. A big thank you
to them for all they do for our community and we wish them
well in their future endeavors!
Zack Pugh
Zack is graduating from York High School on Tuesday, May
28. Zack is one of Hillside's "behind the scenes"
volunteers. Zack has volunteered since he was in grammar
school at St. Domitilla. He has graciously put on heavy
costumes for our events and has posed for endless pictures
with our children. Since he has been 12 years old, Zack has
been incognito as Mr. Bunny at our Easter
"Egg-Travaganza" and donates his time with many
Youth Commission as well as Special Event Programs. Zack is
very enthusiastic young man, who impresses everyone with his
leadership. He has received the Elmhurst Youth Service Award,
which recognizes outstanding individual volunteer efforts.
Zack is involved in the Explorers Program and will be
attending the U.S. Customs Academy at the Great Lakes Naval
Base. However, he assures us that his commitment to being a
volunteer for our town will continue. Zack is planning a
career in law enforcement and with his knowledge and
enthusiasm, we know he will reach his goal. Good Luck, Zack!
Bryan Belmonte
Bryan is graduating from ITT Technical Institute on
Thursday, June 13. Bryan is a college honor student who
received many outstanding achievement awards are school while
maintaining a 3.9 grade point average. He has tons of
homework, is self-employed, and still finds time to volunteer
his talents for our community. He is one of our volunteer
photographers who work so hard to capture all of Hillside's
memories on film. Bryan has been an extremely valuable part of
our community by his volunteering and working with the youth
of our village. He excels in computer knowledge and accepts
any endeavor that challenges him and he strives for excellence
in his school, work and community. He also works closely with
the Historical Commission and his recent challenge is
capturing the restoration of the oldest house in Hillside -
the former Schierhorn family residence - on film and
preserving the history of Hillside. He is at every event (and
has been since he was in grade school) always willing to help
no matter what the task may be. Upon graduating, Bryan will
receive a Degree in Computer Science and intends on pursuing
the career as a Network Consultant. Bryan has assured us that
he will still find time to "capture your smiling faces on
film" and volunteer at all of our events. We wish Bryan
success in his new career and know that he will be an asset to
any company. Good Luck, Bry!
