Mark your calendars for the week of September 14th through the 18th. On your regular garbage day, the week of September 14th, you will be able to place many of your unwanted items out for pick-up. Residents are encouraged to remove any unwanted trash, furniture, appliances, etc. that have accumulated over the years. Please place these items out on your REGULAR TRASH COLLECTION DAY OF CLEAN UP WEEK.
This opportunity comes only once a year, so we hope you take advantage of it.
Appliances: (stoves, refrigerators, etc.), Bulk Items: (bicycles, toys, etc.), Carpets: must be in rolls no more than 5 feet in length and 2 feet in diameter, Fixtures: (toilets, sinks, etc.), Furniture, Paint: (must be hardened in cans with lids OFF), Landscaping timbers: must be no longer than 3 feet in length.
Non Acceptable items
Car Batteries, Explosives, Tires, any type of Fluid (gas, oil, etc.), Ammunition, Radioactive Material, Riding Lawnmowers/Snow blowers, Hazardous or Medical Waste, Large Automobile Parts, Boats, Snowmobiles, Bricks, Concrete Blocks, Cement or Asphalt Pavement Material, Construction and Demolition debris.
Disposal of Televisions
The Village of Hillside and Waste Management will NOT pick-up TV’s even during clean-up week! TV’s have many toxic materials and should not be disposed of in landfills. It is the responsibility of the owner to dispose of electronics properly. For residents only we temporarily have a recycling bin in our lobby where you can dispose of certain electronics properly. However, if your TV is larger than 30 inches you must use an alternate recycling facility.
