Helping Local Food Pantries

There are two local food pantries that are operating in our community. This holiday season has left their shelves bare. To assist them, the Village of Hillside will have a box in the lobby for residents who may wish to donate to assist those who are in need.

Hillside Firefighters Food Drive

The first Hillside Firefighters Food Drive event was a success this past weekend. Thank you to all who generously participated and thoughtfully donated. We finished the event with over 45 boxes of food collected for the two church food pantries.

Hillside's New Fire Truck

The Hillside Fire Department is getting a new fire truck and expect it to be ready by the end of June.

Eisenhower Expressway Project Open House Meeting

The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) will host an open house public meeting on the I-290 Eisenhower Project on Wednesday, May 18th.

ComEd Helping Hand Program

Beginning April 18, up to $1 million will be made available for a "helping hand" from ComEd's customer assistance fund. For the third consecutive year, the company is offering this program, which is open to qualifying ComEd customers who have received a disconnection notice or who have been disconnected.

Free Foreclosure Prevention and Homebuying Counseling

The Monroe Foundation, in partnership with the Village of Hillside, is offering free foreclosure prevention and homebuying counseling. The project, titled "Keeping Hillside S.T.A.B.L.E. and STRONG", is generously supported by PNC.

We are joining a growing number of safety-conscious communities in Illinois, which have installed automated red light enforcement systems.

ComEd's Advanced Metering Infrastructure Pilot

States and utilities throughout the country are testing new "smart" electric meters and other technologies as part of the journey to a Smart Grid electric delivery system. The deployment of smart meters in our community will enable residents to access electricity usage information through the Internet, which will help residents monitor their electricity use and manage their bill.
