New Chief of Police
February 2nd — In October of 2005, Police Chief Frank Alonzo announced his retirement. Chief Alonzo has been in law enforcement for 31 years and 26 of those years he worked on the Hillside Police Force. We were honored to have him as our Chief since 2002. Please join me in extending to Frank and his family best wishes and good health in everything that they may do as he enjoys life.
I am also pleased to announce that on Monday, November 28, 2005 the Hillside Board of Trustees appointed Joseph Lukaszek as Hillside’s new Chief of Police. Chief Lukaszek has been an officer with the department since 1990 and was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2002. Joe has been a Community Policing Officer, Bike Patrol Officer, Accident Reconstruction Officer, Juvenile Officer, Homicide Investigator, Computer Crimes Investigator, Rapid Deployment Trainer, Computer Forensics Specialist and a SWAT Officer. He has a Federal Certification for Unit Commander through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and has involvement with a Federal Task Force on Child Exploitation.
As we continue to move our Village forward, we look to the commitment and outstanding leadership that Chief Lukaszek brings to the Police Department. Joe is looking forward to meeting as many of our residents as possible and will be attending the events that our village will be hosting in 2006. Please join me in extending our congratulations to him on his promotion.
