Butterfield Road Thursday, December 6th 2001. |

Six years ago another "tradition" was
born…The Annual Christmas Walk. Each year, its gets BIGGER AND BIGGER AND BIGGER and this year is no exception…you
definitely are in for a great time! The Village of Hillside and the Hillside Chamber of Commerce and Industry are busy planning an event that is sure to put everyone in the holiday mood and we are making sure we have some spectacular things planned for your enjoyment.
The Christmas Walk officially starts at 6:00pm on Butterfield
Road (between Wolf and Taft) and Wolf Road (between
Butterfield and 22nd). This is a perfect time to do some Christmas shopping while you enjoy the tasty treats and great hospitality that our Butterfield Road merchants have to offer. Then at 6:30pm walk over to the Hillside Commons at Hillside and Washington Avenues when Santa arrives by his "special fire-truck", courtesy of our great Fire and
E.S.D.A Departments.
Santa and Mayor Tamburino will officially kick off the Christmas Season when they flick the switch that turns the Commons into a vision of beautiful lights.
From the Commons, Santa will be escorted to the Hillside Library where he will be welcomed with beautiful music that is sure to put everyone in the Christmas Spirit. Boys and Girls of all ages can whisper their Christmas wishes or have their picture taken with the Jolly Ol' Elf. Santa's Helpers, our Youth Commission members, will be on hand to see that "special treats" are given to the children who stop in to see him. Of course, Mrs. Claus will add to the fun with her talented face-painting abilities.
Here are some more highlights that are planned for our Christmas Walk
2001
·Hospitality at our local
businesses, Churches, and Chamber Office
·Free horse drawn wagon ride
·4 Free Christmas trolleys

·Santa's Reindeer at Luur's Garden Shoppe
·Street performers at Jimmy's Bavarians
·Christmas characters
·Ice sculpting

These are just some of the things we have in store for our

give us a beautiful day. A special thanks to the
sponsors who make this event a huge success, our Business
Community, The Chamber of Commerce, and the Village of
Hillside.
